In his only start last week, Dwyer pitched a complete
game shutout in Ripon’s 2-0 win over Lawrence on
Thursday to improve his season record to 2-0. In those
nine innings, Dwyer allowed just three hits while striking
out seven. |

Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam |
Roeder broke the school record for most saves in a season in Ripon’s 12-9 victory at Marian University. Roeder picked up his fourth save of the year by pitching three innings of five-hit ball in which he allowed just one earned run, while striking out four batters. |

Beaman’s red-hot hitting last week helped Ripon force a one-game playoff with Beloit College for the final seed in the MWC North Division. The sophomore hit .538 (14-26), as the Red Hawks won six of their eight games last week. In addition, Beaman drove in 14 runs and scored 14 more. Seven of his 14 hits went for extra bases, including two doubles, two triples and three home runs. He also drew 11 walks. |

MEN'S TRACK
Andrew Handeland
Sophomore
Mequon, Wis./Mequon |
Handeland played a key role in Ripon’s first
place finish at Saturday’s Sherman-Lukoski
Invite at Ingalls Field. Handeland was a part of
three first-place finishes. He won a pair of individual
events, finishing first in the 100 (11.48)
and 200 (23.27), while also running the opening
leg on the winning 4x100 relay team, which
finished with a time of 45.16 |
MEN'S FIELD
Kyle Roy
Sophomore
Fredonia, Wis./Random Lake |
Roy placed first in the shot put (47-03) and the
disc (138-09.25), while also placing second in
the hammer (145-04.50) in helping the Ripon
men to a first place finish at Saturday’s Sherman-Lukoski Invitational. All of Roy’s throws
are career best outdoor performances. |
WOMEN'S FIELD
Trisha Jones
Senior
Marengo, Ill./Marengo |
Jones had an outstanding start to the 2009 outdoor
track & field season at Saturday’s Sherman-Lukoski Invitational in Ripon. She helped Ripon
to a third-place finish with first place performances
in the high jump (4-09.50), triple jump
(30-04.50) and 400 hurdles (1:12.37). In addition
to that, Jones also placed second in both the 100
hurdles (17.65) and the 4x400 relay, which ran a
time of 4:55.63. |

WOMEN'S FIELD
Heidi Baerenwald

Baerenwald had a career day at Saturday’s UW-Oshkosh
Invitational. The freshman broke the school
record in the shot put with a throw of 45-07.75. That
tops Ripon’s previous best by three feet and is an
NCAA provisional qualifying mark. That throw is
the second-best shot put performance in the country
this season, less than a foot off the pace of the nation’s best throw. |

Geenen helped lead Ripon to a 5-4 record during their spring trip to Clermont, Fla. last week, recording a team-high batting average of .433 (13-30). Nine of her 13 hits went for extra bases, including five doubles and four triples. She scored a team-best 10 runs and drove in six runs, which ranked second on the team. For the week, Geenen’s slugging percentage was .867. |

Knorr improved her season record on the mound to 7-7 thanks to going 3-1 last week, including 3-0 over the weekend at the MWC Crossover Tournament. In her five appearances (four starts) Knorr allowed seven earned runs in 28.0 innings of work, striking out 13, while walking just three of the 117 batters she faced. |

Geenen led Ripon to wins in all four of its games last week, extending the Red Hawk’s winning streak to nine games. That helped Ripon clinch homefield for the 2009 MWC Tournament with a 12-1 conference record, which is the best conference record in school history. In last week's four games, Geenen batted .636 (7-11) with four RBI, six runs scored and three walks. Geenen also hit the 17th home run of her career, which is the second-most in school history. In addition to that, Geenen recorded one triple and stole four bases. |
