Meet Marco Ordoñez
Marco Ordoñez joined the Office of Admissions in June of 2021. He is a former teacher in the math and sciences department at St. Rita of Cascia High School, serving students in the southside of Chicago the last two years. His love of science was explored as an undergraduate at Loyola University Chicago as a biochemistry major. While at Loyola he co-authored a publication in the European Journal of Neuroscience (PMID: 27740714) looking at the glutamatergic and cholinergic inputs in mice that drive reward, research aimed to understand the neural pathway in the relapse of individuals recovering from drugs of abuse. He was a member of the 24th cohort of the ACE Teaching Fellowship at the University of Notre Dame where he obtained his M. Ed.
When Marco is not welcoming families at Evans Admission Center, you are sure to find him cheering on the Redhawks on the field and in the court! He enjoys soccer, tennis, frisbee, working out and the outdoors. If you find yourself in need of a good philosophical conversation about introspection and also enjoy a walk in the Ceresco Prairie, come find him in the admissions department.
Ripon College welcomes him in his efforts to help increase awareness in diversity, equity and inclusion as well as helping students find a home at Ripon.
