Like classmate Helen Hughes, Jessie Talbot (class of 1909) also based her senior thesis on the Clark Collection. She examined Clark's collection of Roman lamps--then numbering 68--believing that "the elegance of form and emblematic ornaments on most of them form a most interesting study" (1). Her thesis ably demonstrates not only her knowledge of Latin, but her familiarity with the best sources then available on the subject of Roman lamps.
