Job Description:
Provides comprehensive and culturally sensitive student support services designed to ensure academic, social, and emotional success, a sense of belonging and engagement, and persistence to graduation. Supervises select professional staff. Serves as a senior thought partner for realizing data-driven strategic initiatives.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students and participates in select Administrative Council (President’s Cabinet) strategy sessions.

Principle Duties:

Responsible for assessing and monitoring trends in student retention and identifying and implementing student success strategies to meet strategic plan retention metrics.
Implements and oversees comprehensive retention support systems including providing direct services to at risk students.
Develops comprehensive student of concern program; responds to early alerts from faculty and staff with outreach to students offering assistance and making referrals to College resources while helping students navigate services to assure barriers to success are minimized.
Provides support for student success initiatives including oversight in the Franzen Center for Academic Success, Center for Career and Professional Development, and Trio Student Support Services, and coordinates student success initiatives within Athletics.
Serves as a student success resource for academic advising by providing and assuring best practices for developmental advising.
Assists with Title IX training and monitoring.
Gathers higher education business intelligence and trend data within academic units, co-curricular organizations, and athletic teams to identify risks to success and retention.
Participates in the decision-making process for admissions, re-admissions, financial dismissals, academic dismissals, and student appeals, while also providing individual support to students on academic probation.
Collaborates with various teams and stakeholders to develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student success, including community-building activities for first-year students, support structures for returning students, and analysis of student surveys and assessments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Graduate degree in higher education field required; terminal degree preferred. Qualified candidates could be awarded faculty status.
Minimum of 5 years in executive leadership role in student affairs and/or academic affairs.
Expert capacity and demonstrated leadership in leading teams; assessment; effective oral and written communication; capacity to build and maintain relationships.
