Public Services Librarian, Academic Instructor or Forensics Coach

Ripon College invites applications for a Public Services Librarian who will also serve as an Academic Instructor or as the coach of the College’s Forensics Team. This is a multifaceted full-time, non-tenured, faculty rank position beginning in January 2025. Ripon College is a small residential liberal arts college, located just over an hour from Milwaukee and Madison.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will oversee the library instruction and circulation departments, managing and encouraging career readiness in twenty-five undergraduate student workers. The successful candidate will also support the mission of the college by teaching courses in an academic department or by serving as the coach of Forensics. In addition, the candidate will be an advocate for the library’s services, collections, and spaces via social media and other avenues for community outreach. Shared duties include teaching information literacy sessions within the College’s core curriculum, providing reference services, and collection development.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Manage the daily operation and personnel of the circulation and reserves departments.
  • Lead the library’s instruction program in information, digital, media, and AI literacy.
  • Strategize and implement the library’s campus outreach through the use of social media, displays, meeting with student groups, and developing marketing materials.
  • Experience or interest in teaching information, digital, media, and AI literacy.
  • Teach academic courses within the college’s curriculum and/or serve as coach of the college’s inaugural forensics team.

 

Required:

  • MLS from an ALA accredited program or the equivalent
  • M.A. or M.S. in an academic discipline that would prepare the candidate to teach departmental or interdisciplinary courses within the curriculum or experience that demonstrates the ability and willingness to build an enrollment driving forensics program
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to hold student workers to a high standard in a collegial atmosphere
  • Ability to analyze, implement, and adapt to evolving library services and technologies
  • Ability to take initiative, set goals, manage projects and priorities
  • Ability to lift and move library materials up to 25 pounds

Preferred:

  • · Knowledge of the WMS ILS
  • · Experience with the Canvas learning management system
