Smith Named ‘Person of the Year’
Brian Smith, professor and Charles and Joan Van Zoeren Chair in Religion, Ethics and Values, was named Person of the Year by the Ripon Commonwealth Press.
The paper recognized Smith for his devotion to improving the lives of others. For the third year, he has spent his winter break accompanying Ripon College students to the Panamanian mission of Capuchin priest Father Wally Kasuboski.
Smith and the students joined 30 other Ripon-area residents who are working to build a dam in the mountains to secure a constant water supply for 1,300 residents in Wacuco and the surrounding communities.
