Hedman ’78 Selected by Obama Administration
On May 22, President Obama announced his intention to nominate twelve individuals to posts in his administration, including Susan Hedman ’78 for the position of Commissioner for the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission. Hedman currently serves as the Region 5 Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) directing the EPA’s operations in the Great Lakes region. She has also served as Environment and Agency Counsel and Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
In addition to her substantial work with environmental protection, Hedman has served as a professor and attorney. After graduating from Ripon College with a degree in politics and government, Hedman received an M.A. from the La Follette Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin, a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Ph.D. from the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin.
