Composer, mezzo-soprano present workshop Nov. 20

Practical Love Songs, a public workshop with composer-in-residence Dale Trumbore and mezzo-soprano JaneMarie Erickson ’16 of Redgranite, Wisconsin, will begin at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. The workshop will be presented in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the Ripon College campus.

Erickson, a senior music and theatre major, will perform songs by Trumbore, and Trumbore will discuss the work and accompany on the piano. Selections will be “The Philosopher” and “I shall forget you presently” (Sonnet XI), with texts by Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950).

Trumbore, of Los Angeles, California, is on campus for the world premiere of “Dancing is the Language of Sensation,” commissioned by Ripon College and to be presented by the Ripon College Chamber Singers Friday.
