Holiday concert to be presented at Ripon College Sunday, Dec. 13
The Ripon College Department of Music will present its annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, Dec. 13. The program will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.
Selections include:
- Choral Union: Christus Natus Est, by the living British composer Cecilia McDowall. This features Cori Fredericks ’19 of Appleton, Wisconsin, soprano solo, and Maria Kaiser Dietrich, piano.
- Chamber Singers: A fast-paced setting of the traditional carol Fum, fum, fun!, arranged by Kirke Mechem; and a medley of popular Christmas tunes arranged by Teena Chinn. Maria Kaiser Dietrich will accompany on piano.
- Orchestra strings: A medley of English carols.
- Jazz Ensemble: Jazz versions of three familiar holiday tunes.
- Symphonic Wind Ensemble: Alfred Reed’s majestic Russian Christmas Music, and accompaniment for an audience sing-along of favorite songs of the season.
Kurt Dietrich, professor of music and Barbara Baldwin De Frees Chair in the Performing Arts, conducts the instrumental ensembles; and John C. Hughes, assistant professor of music, conducts the choral ensembles.
