Ripon College, Augustana College choirs to present combined concert Feb. 19
The Ripon College Chamber Singers will present a combined concert with the Augustana Choir of Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois) on Sunday, Feb. 19. The concert will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts.
This is a part of the Midwest tour of Augustana Choir.
John C. Hughes, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Ripon College, is an alumnus of Augustana College and studied choral conducting with Dr. Jon Hurty, who leads the Augustana Choir.
The Augustana Choir has a tradition of touring across the country and around the world that goes back decades. Hurty has conducted his choirs in concerts throughout the United States as well as Sweden, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Austria, Japan and Korea.
“Encouraging young singers to reach for their goals is an important component of this tour,” Hurty said. “And there is great value in the opportunity for our choir to work with other ensembles. It helps us to become a more diversified choir and allows us to learn from one another.”
All are welcome to attend the performance. There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be accepted.
