Students from Ripon College plays nominated to perform in theatre competitions

Several Ripon College students will perform audition pieces for the American College Theatre Festival, Region 3, to be held Jan. 9 to 14 at the University of Indianapolis.

Students are nominated on the basis of a performance in a play. Two winners from each of the eight regions will travel to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in April to compete nationally.

Ripon College’s acting nominees for this year’s festival are Sophie Widman ’18 of Boulder Creek, California, and Jimmy Balistreri ’19 of Plymouth, Wisconsin for their performances in “Measure for Measure” in the spring of 2017; David Firari ’18 of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; and Stephanie Nilsen ’18 of Waukesha, Wisconsin, for their performances in “Vanya & Sonya & Masha & Spike” in the fall of 2017; and Savannah White ’19 of Carol Stream, Illinois, and Mackenzie Swart ’20 of Brookfield, Wisconsin, for their performances in “Naked Mole Rats in a World of Darkness” in the fall of 2017.

Crystal Fercy ’19 of Appleton, Wisconsin, is entered into the scene design competition for her design of “Naked Mole Rats in a World of Darkness.”
