Wisconsin poet Francesca Abbate will present reading Oct. 10

Wisconsin poet Francesca Abbate will present a reading Wednesday, Oct. 10, as part of the Visiting Writers Series at Ripon College. The reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the North Reading Room of Lane Library. It is free and open to the public.

Abbate is the author of the poetry book Troy, Unincorporated. (University of Chicago Press 2012). It is a “retelling, or refraction, of Chaucer’s tragedy Troilus and Criseyde, set in the small towns of modern-day Wisconsin.

Abbate’s poetry has appeared in journals such as Field, Free Verse, The Iowa Review, Poetry and Poetry Daily and, most recently, in The Laurel Review, The Cincinnati Review, Gulf Coast online and Prompt 5.

She is an associate professor of English at Beloit College and lives in Beloit and Milwaukee.
