All music ensembles will present holiday concert Dec. 9
A holiday concert by all the musical ensemble of Ripon College will be presented at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the field house of Willmore Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Chamber Singers will sing “O Magnum Mysterium,” by Tomás Luis Victoria; “A Winter Landscape,” by Lane Johnson; and “Deck the Halls,” arranged by James McKelvy.
Choral Union will perform “Christmas Cantata,” by Daniel Pinkham; and “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind,” by John Rutter.
“Christmas Cantata” features instrumentalists Jessica Jensen and Paul Dietrich on trumpet, Kurt Dietrich and Dylan Chmura-Moore on trombone, and Maria Kaiser Dietrich on keyboard. Dietrich also will play keyboard for “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind.”
The Ripon College Orchestra will play Claude Debussy’s “Petit Suite.”
Jazz Ensemble will perform “Joy to the World,” arranged by Richard DeRosa; and “Coventry Carol,” arranged by Jamey Simmons.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble will play “The Eighth Candle,” by Steve Reisteter; and “Fanfare and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” by Chip Davis.
The group will again perform “It’s Christmas!”, a medley of popular carols arranged by Warren Barker, for an audience singalong.
Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble are conducted by Professor of Music Kurt Dietrich; Chamber Singers and Choral Union are conducted by Assistant Professor of Music John Hughes; and Orchestra is conducted by Adjunct Professor of Music Dylan Chmura-Moore.
A reception will follow the concert in the Willmore Center atrium.
