College Days honored in awards competition

College Days, Ripon College’s student newspaper, won several awards from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association in the 2018 WCMA Better Newspaper Contest Awards. Awards were presented March 8 in Madison.

The contest period for the awards included issues published from Sept. 1, 2017, through Dec. 31, 2018. Student honorees are:

  • Rebecca Bajt ’19 of Mazon, Illinois, first place in Sports Photography, for volleyball photos.
  • John Myers ’19 of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, second place in Advertisement, for a Mugs Coffeehouse crossword.
  • Connor Renshaw ’20 of Maplewood, New Jersey, third place in Breaking News Reporting, for coverage of a controversial meeting between members of Young Americans for Freedom and administrators.
  • Cordell Walker ’18 of Ripon, Wisconsin, and Mackenzie Dibelius ’20 of Princeton, Wisconsin, second place in Infographic.

Ian Stepleton ’98, adjunct instructor of journalism, is advisor to College Days.
