Update on Commencement 2021
Dear Ripon College Class of 2021 and Families,
I am reaching out to you today to provide updates related to the planning for Commencement 2021. The Commencement Planning Committee has been diligently evaluating all possible options for a safe and in-person experience for the Class of 2021.
At this time, I am pleased to announce that our goal is to hold the 2021 Commencement ceremony as scheduled outside on the lawn of Harwood Memorial Union Sunday, May 16, at 1 p.m. CDT.
Because of continued caution related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the status of public health across the country, each graduate will be allowed only two ticketed guests. Masks will be required and social distancing will be enforced.
Over the course of the next month, the College will continue to consult with the Fond du Lac County Health Department and evaluate all Commencement-related logistics and share those policies and procedures with you as they become available. In early April, graduates will be asked to register their guests. A livestream (as well as a recording) of the ceremony will be shared for those unable to attend in person.
Should weather force the event indoors, the ceremony will be moved to the field house of Willmore Center. The weather call will be made by noon Saturday, May 15. All ticketing and COVID-19 requirements will remain the same.
All updates will continue to be shared via email and posted at ripon.edu/commencement.
Congratulations to the Class of 2021 and best wishes for a strong finish to the semester.
Sincerely,
Zach Messitte
President
Professor of Politics and Government
