Brian Smith publishes opinion piece on EarthBeat

“Can Faith Leaders Shift Public Opinion Toward Climate Action?”, an opinion piece by Brian Smith, professor emeritus of religion, was published Monday, April 26, 2021, on EarthBeat.

EarthBeat is an initiative by the National Catholic Reporter, a publication that reaches progressive-thinking Christians and humanists with weekly paper and daily digital copy.

He says the piece was written “in light of the critical need to take bold action now to promote environmental sustainability” and addresses “what religious leaders need do to promote more action to save the environment as a ‘pro-life’ issue.”

Smith also serves as co-director of Ripon College’s Center for Politics and the People.
