Poet and novelist DeMisty Bellinger will read from her work Feb. 15

Visiting author DeMisty Bellinger

DeMisty Bellinger, author of the poetry collections Peculiar Heritage and Rubbing Elbows and the novel New to Liberty, will read from her work Wednesday, Feb. 15. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the MLK Lounge, Harwood Memorial Union, on the campus. It is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and author signing.

Bellinger also has had work appear in anthologies and has written nonfiction. She is a poetry editor at Malarkey Books, an alumni reader at the Prairie Schooner and a professor at Fitchburg State University. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, an MFA from Southampton College and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.

She is an alumna of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference in Middlebury, Vermont, and Marge Piercy’s Intensive Writing Workshop. She also attended the Vermont Studio Center, a fine arts and residency program, on a fellowship. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and twin daughters.

The program is presented by the Ripon College Visiting Writers Series and the Schang Family Visiting Writer Fund.
