Free conference will promote diversity and inclusion in higher education
The 2023 HEDIT Conference, aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion in higher education, will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, in the conference center on the campus of Moraine Park Technical College, 235 N. National Ave., in Fond du Lac. All are welcome to attend.
The sponsor is the Higher Education Diversity and Inclusion Team (HEDIT) of Fond du Lac County, which includes Ripon College, Marian University, Moraine Park Technical College and UW Oshkosh Fond du Lac.
The keynote speaker will be Jen Frey. She is a sports geographer, tech founder, speaker and educator who addresses social justice education that explores the intersection of conflict and diversity, equity and inclusion. She facilitates conversation and skill-building with organizations, leadership and C-suite groups, small and large teams, affinity groups and more. A focus is best practices that create more equitable organizations, communities and teams, where each person feels a sense of belonging.
Frey is a volleyball coach with more than 15 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level. She received her Ph.D. in sports geography from Michigan State University.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. The Center for Diversity and Inclusion will provide free transportation to anyone attending the HEDIT conference.
This talk will be inspiring to any educator, artist or concerned citizen. Registration is available here, and there is no fee.
