Tobin Shucha directs honors band for select students from nine schools
Tobin Shucha, assistant professor of music and director of bands and music education, was the invited conductor for the Flyway Conference Honors Band Jan. 31 at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac.
Seventy-five students from nine schools were selected by their directors to participate in the event. After rehearsing for about five hours throughout the day, a concert was performed in the early evening.
Selections performed were Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Flourish for Wind Band,” Percy Grainger’s “Spoon River.” “David Holsinger’s “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss,” Ron Nelson’s “Courtly Airs and Dances” and John Philip Sousa’s “Fairest of the Fair.”
