Kamala Harris to Speak at Ripon College on Thursday Oct. 3rd
Ripon College will welcome a Harris for President Campaign event on Thursday, October 3rd after the Campaign reached out to determine the College’s willingness to rent space for a campaign event. This invitation-only event will grant extended access to Ripon College students, faculty, staff, retirees, Board members, and the greater campus community – regardless of political affiliation.
We believe it is important to foster political discourse, civic engagement and thoughtful and respectful exchange of ideas. While we all have our own personal political opinions, it bears repeating that Ripon College does not endorse political candidates. If former President Trump, or Senator Vance, were to make a similar request, we would respond the same way, as we did in 2020 when then Vice President Pence spoke on campus. These are unique opportunities afforded to our entire campus community and there is no better venue to host such a visit than an institution of higher education.
Students, faculty and staff are receiving internal updates on how this event may impact campus life this week as Ripon College does its best to minimize the disruption to campus.
