Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra to perform at Ripon College Nov. 2

RIPON, Wisconsin – The Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra will perform a concert as the final fall performance of the Chamber Music and Jazz at Ripon Series in Demmer Recital Hall in the C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts at Ripon College on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.

The Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra features prominent Milwaukee musicians who combine swinging, soulful, traditional and cutting-edge styles.

The orchestra is led by Curt Hanrahan, who assembled former band members of UW-Milwaukee’s annual Woody Herman Jazz Festival and the finest local jazz musicians. These musicians, along with a small band Hanrahan created with his son Tim on bass and brother Warren on drums, have become the core of the Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra.

Prepare for the orchestra to deliver a dynamic performance that blends classic and contemporary with original works.

The Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra aims to reflect the same generosity in their performances and educational endeavors as Herman exhibited during his 50 years of band performances. Alongside live shows, the Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra has also recorded and released two albums: “Welcome to Swingsville!” (2017) and “Take It All” (2022).

All events in the Chamber Music & Jazz at Ripon Series are free and open to the public courtesy of donations through Ripon College’s Friends of the Arts.
