Ripon’s poet-in-residence to read poetry at Lane Library open house

Readings on Midwest landscapes

RIPON, Wisconsin – Max Schleicher, Ripon’s poet-in-residence, will be giving a poetry reading at an open house at Lane Library at Ripon College on Saturday, Nov. 9. from 1-3 p.m.

Schleicher’s poetry typically explores the topic of landscapes in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest.

“In these poems, I wander through the natural landscapes and the post-industrial valleys of Milwaukee, examining the places where economics, technology and natural history meet,” Schleicher said. “My work, while serious, is often playful, though, as I can’t resist a joke.”

The event is free and open to all. Not only will guests enjoy live poetry readings from Schleicher, but they will also learn the writing and thought processes behind his work, as well as the history of the library collection and enjoy various refreshments.

The open house is sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Wisconsin with funds provided by the Gwendolyn Schultz Charitable Trust.
