Julie A. Mavity Maddalena to address “Unity Across Our Communities” at HEDIT Conference April 3

The 2025 conference of the Higher Education Diversity Initiative Team (HEDIT), will be held Thursday, April 3, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Great Hall of Ripon College’s Harwood Memorial Union.

The conference theme of “Unity Across Our Communities” will be addressed by keynote speaker Julie A. Mavity Maddalena. Maddalena is University Chaplain, Ethicist in Residence, Director of the Ulrich Center and Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Lakeland University.

Breakout sessions will be hosted by Ripon College faculty, staff, students and alumni in Great Hall and other locations around campus.

HEDIT of Fond du Lac County, includes Ripon College, Marian University, UW-Oshkosh and Moraine Park Technical College. The goal of the collaboration is to lead, inspire, educate and challenge higher education in promoting diversity and inclusiveness.

The conference is free and open to the public; registration is available here. A complimentary lunch and breakfast will be provided.

“This conference will support building an inclusive community,” Ripon College’s Director of Multicultural Affairs Yazmin Doroteo said. “The conference will be interactive, and each session will create awareness.”
