Susan Ann Wright Salisbury

Class of 1867: First graduating class

Susan Ann Wright Salisbury was one of the four members of the first graduation class of 1867 at Ripon College.

She was born Jan. 10, 1848, in Metomen, Wisconsin, completed her preparation for college in the classes preceding regular college work at Ripon, then studied in the scientific course to earn her degree.

She taught at Ripon College in 1867; in New York City in 1868; and in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, in 1869.

She died Oct. 18, 1871, after being lost overboard from the steamer W.P. Clyde while traveling from New York to Washington, D.C.
