Chamber Music & Jazz at Ripon presents MARS:SMITH Feb. 13

The MARS:SMITH duo, Daniela Mars (flute, vocals) and Paul Smith (piano, vocals), will present a concert as part of the Chamber Music and Jazz at Ripon Series in C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts – Demmer Recital Hall at Ripon College on Friday, February 13, at 7 p.m.

In addition to the evening performance, the duo will be leading a day of clinics in the Fond du Lac area schools, with Ripon College music education students engaging in the clinical process.

With inspiration drawn from minimalist neo-classicism to Brazilian-infused vocals, MARS:SMITH is a critically acclaimed duo presenting a unique, interactive concert experience with flutes, voices, piano, and immersive experiences for audiences.

As the MARS:SMITH duo, Daniela Mars (flutes, vocals) and Paul Smith (piano, vocals) present a concert experience combining their own music with composers ranging from Bach to Tom Jobim. In 2024 their concerts, filming and community projects take them across Europe, to Asia, South America, the US and Australia.

As artists, Paul Smith, co-founder of the Grammy-nominated ensemble VOCES8, is internationally known for his innovative approach to ensemble performance and music education. Renowned for his innovative and emotionally resonant musical style, Paul’s work spans classical, contemporary, and collaborative genres, connecting audiences through performances that are both intimate and expansive.

Daniela Mars is a bold voice in contemporary music—a flautist and composer renowned for her work with low and extended-range flutes (alto, bass, and contrabass). An internationally acclaimed ambassador for Trevor James Flutes, Mars tours globally as a soloist and collaborator, appearing in concert halls, festivals and on cinematic soundtracks.
