Ripon Summer Players opens season with Red Herring

Join the Ripon Summer Players June 5 through 7 for Red Herring, a new comedy about love, murder, marriage and other explosive devices. Set in 1952, the play jumps from Joe McCarthy’s living room in Wisconsin to the docks of Boston to the South Pacific islands.

Red Herring has tough film noir detectives, spies, Russian fishermen and congressmen. It covers topics ranging from H-bombs to Velveeta cheese, but at the center of the play, it’s is all about love and marriage.

Appearing in this wild and fast-paced play are Andrea Young, Maic D’Agostino, Jodi Spanbauer, Tekoa Wittman, Leah Simon, John Ingemann, Robin Woods, Robert Amsden, Doug Northrop, Kaylee Hoier, Christian Dirks Jim Tronoff, Jack Christ, Brian Reilly, Vida VandeSlunt and Helga Rikkers.

Red Herring will open the Ripon Summer Players 19th season. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6; and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, in Benstead Theatre, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the Ripon College campus.

Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $7 for seniors and students, and are available at Ripon Drug and at the door. The Ripon Summer Players, a joint project of the Ripon Noon Kiwanis and the Ripon College theatre department, was founded to provide quality live theatre for the community.
