Alumni win awards for senior seminar papers

For the fourth year in a row, students from Ripon College have won student paper awards from the Wisconsin Sociological Association.

  • Holly Kortemeier ’15 of Whitewater, Wisconsin, won first place for her senior seminar paper from last semester, “Pupils to Peers: Socializing Graduate Students into the Counseling Profession.”
  • Kyle Novack ’15 of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, won third place for his senior seminar paper from last semester, “There’s a Future Inmate: How Criminals and Potential Criminals are Otherized by Law Enforcement Officials.”
  • Jacqueline Clark, associate professor of sociology and chair of the department, and Marc Eaton, assistant professor of sociology, attended the annual meeting of the Wisconsin Sociological Association Oct. 1-2 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
