Metal-working sculptor shows work at Ripon College starting Jan. 29

Jessica Calderwood, an associate professor of art at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, will have an exhibit of her work shown Jan. 29 through March 11 at Ripon College.

The exhibit will be in Caestecker Gallery, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. An artist’s talk will be presented at the opening at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 in the lobby of the Rodman Center. A reception will follow in the gallery.

Calderwood is an image-maker and sculptor who works primarily with metal and enamel. Her works are imbued with personal narratives and color. She uses a combination of traditional and industrial metalworking processes as a means to make statements about contemporary life.

She received her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and her MFA from Arizona State University, with an emphasis in metalworking. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally in curated and juried exhibitions. She has participated in artist residencies with the John Michael Kohler Arts/Industry Program and the Mesa Arts Center.

Her work also has been published in Metalsmith Magazine, American Craft, NICHE, Ornament, the Lark 500 series and the Art of Enameling. She has been at UW-Oshkosh since 2008. Most recently, she is a recipient of a Wisconsin Arts Board Fellowship.
