Speaker, slideshow continue Black History Month offerings this week

Black History Month celebration continues with two special events this week:

• Feb. 10: “Working Our Intersections …”, 5 p.m. in the Dahm Heritage Room, S.N. Pickard Commons. The Rev. Benjamin Ledell Reynolds, assistant director of recruitment, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, will share some of his passions related to diversity, culture, differences and the seminary, while highlighting the variety of master’s of divinity degrees offered at Garrett. This is co-hosted by Center for Diversity & Inclusion and the Office of Constituent Engagement & Career Services.
• Feb. 11: “They Shoot Black People, Don’t They? A Cartoonist’s look at Police Brutality,” 7 p.m. in Todd Wehr 104. This is a PowerPoint slideshow from nationally syndicated cartoonist Keith Knight (the Knight Life, the K Chronicles, (th)ink). Presenting his unique take on the militarization of the nation’s police force, and the unchecked killing of unarmed citizens, Knight’s cartoons are infused with urgency, humor, satire, politics and race. His work is designed to provoke constructive, civil dialogue among people young and old, left and right, of all colors and orientations.
