Kourtney Camm ’22 places in virtual intercollegiate horse show

Kourtney Camm ’22 of Evansville, Wisconsin, placed in two events in a virtual horse show Tuesday, Dec. 8, sponsored by the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

She rode as part of the Ripon College Equestrian Team and fourth in the Hunter Seat category in both Introductory Hunter Seat Equitation and World Equestrian Center Limit Hunter Seat Equitation Over Fences.

More than 100 members and alumni from 23 colleges and universities across the country participated in the inaugural online horse show.

Judging was done via videos of the competitors riding. Camm’s videos were shot by team captain Keara Duffy ’22 of McFarland, Wisconsin.

Organizers said that although the online event was necessitated by the pandemic, they are hoping “that this is an opportunity for this kind of event to continue on and give opportunity to riders that don’t normally have an opportunity to compete with each other that chance.”

Camm says, “I have been around horses my entire life but did not start competing until I came to college. Before competing, I rode western pleasure, trained and worked with rescue horses, and taught lessons at a summer camp.”

At Ripon, Camm has a self-designed major in marketing with minors in business management and Spanish.
