Ripon College welcomes Cameron Klein ’21 to the Board of Trustees
This week, Ripon College is honoring and welcoming the new members of the Board of Trustees. The board will meet on campus this week.
Cameron Klein ’21 of Clinton, Wisconsin, was elected as a Ripon College Special Graduate Trustee by students of the College. He will serve a two-year term.
Klein majored in business management with minors in economics and history. While at Ripon College, Klein was a member of the Ripon College Orientation Committee and also served as its Orientation Day leader. He worked in the mail center and as a studio assistant in the Department of Art. He also was involved with Theta Chi fraternity, Interfraternity Council, Senior Class Gift and Love Your Melon/Pinky Swear.
Jobs in the community include accounts payable assistant at Continental Plastic Corp., assistant to the general accountant at Jakes’s Electric LLC and a respite care provider for the Rock County Child Long-Term Support.
As he reflected on his college career at Ripon, Klein knew he wanted to stay involved after graduation. “When the Special Graduate Trustee position came up, I thought it would be something fun and beneficial to take on,” he says. “Not only would I be able to utilize my own positive experiences for Ripon, but continue shaping my alma mater so that we can continue to advance the College’s mission to serve all Red Hawks, whether incoming, current or alumni.”
He says not all students are aware of what the board members do. “When they’re on campus, you can definitely feel it, as it’s similar to the energy felt on One Day Rally,” he says, “but even then not many students take the time to stop and get to know the Trustees or what the work is that they’re there to do.
“I’d really like to better transparency, as much as one could, between the board and the student body. Ripon students prefer to be kept in the loop when it comes to the decisions that involve their education and, for many students, their home. Not everyone will agree with some decisions or understand them, but allowing better access for both parties to utilize their voice would be a huge component of what I’d like to see in the next two years.”
