Class of 2022: Gabriel Ramirez ’22
We celebrate the Class of 2022, what they have achieved during their years at Ripon and what they hope to achieve in the next chapter of their lives.
Gabriel Ramirez ’22 of Chicago, Illinois, majored in biology. He will seek employment “using skills I have learned or pertaining to the subjects within my degree. I will keep a tab open about graduate school in the future, there certainly could be a time when I make a reappearance within the world of academia, but as of now I am unsure of how soon I would do that,” he says.
He says one of the biggest influences Ripon College has had on him “is that I learned the importance of doing what is best for me. This could apply to what I think is best for me socially, what is best for me mentally, what is best for my future, and what is best for me right now at this very moment,” he says. “I can say that I learned this through the many vigorous hours of academic work or through the countless hours I have lent an assisting hand as a member of Theta Chi, and being able to do so many different things within school and outside of campus has allowed me to really grow as a person.”
He has many special memories about his time at Ripon and says that they all are valuable to him. “A lot of my special memories at Ripon are all over the place, but mostly pertaining to my social life and the many amazing people I have met during my years here,” he says. “From coming early during Ignite in 2018, or being surrounded by some great friends within my last semester of college, I think that the many days and nights hanging out with these amazing people is what will be in my memories for as long as I could live. I really think that pushing myself in terms of improving my social life is something that really allowed me to grow in an area I have lacked in my entire life, then from this I have been able to consistently improve myself in various aspects of my life with the support of everyone I have met along the way. The college experience, despite being totally different from what I expected before coming into Ripon (as well as differing from year to year), is something that I will always cherish.”
