Class of 2022: Luis Aragon Miranda ’22

We celebrate the Class of 2022, what they have achieved during their years at Ripon and what they hope to achieve in the next chapter of their lives.

Luis Aragon Miranda ’22, originally from Jiquilpan, Michoacán, Mexico, and now of Monroe, Wisconsin, double majored in sociology and anthropology. He plans to live in Madison, Wisconsin, and work temporarily as a department lead at Target. Eventually, he plans to attend graduate school to earn a Ph.D. and become a professor of sociology.

“The biggest and I believe the most important lesson is to invest in the space and people around you,” he says. “Having been part of Ripon’s campus for only two years but still being a part of many different clubs, Greek life and student organizations has made it one of the best experiences in my life. I have a second home here at Ripon and so many people that I am able to call my close friends that I was lucky enough to meet here. Investing the time and effort has paid off in a much bigger way than what I could possibly have imagined. Investing in my friends, family and happiness is something that I will continue to do in Madison and in my future career.”

He says one of his favorite memories is finding out he would be receiving awards at Award Convocation. “This had been one of the first times that I had been recognized in front of that many people and in front of people I knew. It made me feel seen and recognized after one of the most challenging years of my life. I remember coming back to my room and immediately calling my parents and brothers and having a sense that their support was worth all the sacrifices. Their happiness and their support was one of the biggest drivers throughout my time at Ripon.”
