Erin K. Bryan wins honorable mention in national competition

Assistant Professor of Music Erin K. Bryan has won an honorable mention as a finalist in the 2022 The American Prize in Vocal Performance — Women in Art Song and Oratorio.

The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts is the nation’s most comprehensive series of contests in the performing arts. The American Prize is designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, directors, ensembles and composers in the United States at professional, college/university, community and high school levels.

Bryan holds degrees from Lawrence University, where she studied with Steven Spears and Patrice Michaels, and the University of Louisville, where she studied with Edith Davis Tidwell. She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was a student of Paul Rowe.

Past engagements include work with Kentucky Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera, and the innovative Fresco Opera, and she is featured as Young Anne/#1 on the recently released world-premiere recording of Conrad Susa’s “Transformations.” She enjoys frequent collaboration with living composers, including the Midwest premiere of Laura Schwendinger’s “Kay Ryan Songs” and the world premiere of “Dangerous New Avenues,” a duet for soprano and percussion by Justin Giarrusso.
