Award-winning poet will read from her work April 12 at Ripon College

RIPON — Torrin A. Greathouse, author of the award-winning poetry collection “Wound from the Mouth of a Wound,” will read from her work Wednesday, April 12, at Ripon College. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the MLK Lounge, Harwood Memorial Union, on the campus. The reading is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and author signing.

The program is presented by the Ripon College Visiting Writers Series and the Schang Family Visiting Writer Fund.

Greathouse is a poet, essayist, editor and educator, and a self-described transgender cripple-punk poet and essayist. She received her MFA in creative writing from the University of Minnesota.

Her work has been featured in Poetry Magazine, The Rumpus, New York Times Magazine, Ploughshares and The Kenyon Review. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Effing Foundation for Sex Positivity, Zoeglossia and the University of Arizona Poetry Center.

Her debut poetry collection, “Wound from the Mouth of a Wound,” (Milkweed Editions, 2020), was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award and CLMP Firecracker Award and the winner of the 2022 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. She teaches at the Rainier Writing Workshop, the low-residency MFA program at Pacific Lutheran University.
