Acclaimed theatre critic Peter Filichia will discuss ‘The Business of Show Business’ April 18

“The Business of Show Business,” a discussion about theatre with acclaimed theatre critic Peter Filichia, will be held Tuesday, April 18, at Ripon College. The discussion will run from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Rodman 147, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

Filichia serves on the election committee of the Lucille Lortel Awards, Chita Rivera Awards and Theatre World Awards, for which he has hosted the annual awards ceremony for many years. He is the former New York-based theater critic for The Star-Ledger newspaper in Newark, New Jersey, and New Jersey’s television station News 12, as well as for The Asbury Park Press.

Currently, he writes weekly columns for Masterworks Broadway and Kritzerland, and also writes regularly for the Music Theatre International Marquee blog.

Other positions have included serving on an assessment panel for the National Endowment for the Arts, critic-in-residence for the University of Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music and musical theater judge for the ASCAP Awards program.

He served four terms as president and chairman of the nominating committee of the Drama Desk Awards, served on an assessment panel for the NEA and as the musical theater judge for the ASCAP Awards program.

Filichia also has written plays; liner notes for many Broadway cast albums; and several books about musical theatre.
