Four short plays will be presented in One-Act Play Festival April 14 and 15

The annual One-Act Play Festival, featuring short plays directed by students, will be held April 14 and 15 at Ripon College. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Benstead Theatre, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, on the campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
The plays and cast members are:

  • “Harold’s Ear,” by Joseph Arnone. Rebecca helps her Uncle Harold get a piece of cotton out from inside his ear which has been stuck there for quite some time. The play is directed by Kylie Zenz, ’23 of Fitchburg, Wisconsin. It will feature Lucie Hodgkins ’25 of McFarland, Wisconsin, as Rebecca; and Pierce Reese-Grimm ’24 of Wautoma, Wisconsin, as Harold.

  • “The Fairy Tale Debate,” by Richard L. Sanders, a parody on modern presidential debates. The director is Inesha Wiseman ’23 of Hazel Crest, Illinois. The cast includes Rick Veltstra ’24 of Sherrill, Iowa, as the Moderator; Hailey Makuski ’23 of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, as Crim; Summer Schlieckau ’25 of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, as Aurum; and Kinsley Kahl ’26 of Monona, Wisconsin, as Digit.

  • “Waiting on Trains,” by D.M. Larson. A group of young people awaiting Y2K at the train station. The director is Rebecca Steinkamp ’23 of Vesper, Wisconsin. The cast includes Liliana Haddox ’26 of Chugiak, Alaska, as Sue; Ozzy Hershberger ’26 of Ripon, Wisconsin, as Kirk; Inesha Wiseman ’23 of Hazel Crest, Illinois, as Verna; and Maricarmen Dorantes ’25 of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as Rut.

  • “Death Takes the Train,” by D.M. Larson. A group of people face the Grim Reaper while riding a train. The director is Emma Sagartz ’23 of Chicago, Illinois. The cast includes Jacqueline Hanson ’23 of Deforest, Wisconsin, as Mel; Sarah Agboola ’25 of Lakeville, Minnesota, as Mitch; Corinna Torres ’26 of Ripon, Wisconsin, as Tina; and Maricarmen Dorantes ’25 of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Grim Reaper.
