Brass, guitar students will present joint recital April 27

A student brass and guitar recital will be presented at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts, at Ripon College. Admission will be free and open to the public.

The brass ensemble will perform several movements from “Pictures at an Exhibition,” by Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881), arranged by Arthur Frackenpohl; movements from Quintet No. 1, Op. 5, by Victor Ewald (1860-1935); and “Libertango,” by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992), arranged by Josef Burgstaller.

The performers are Grace Blakeslee ’26 of Green Bay and Ruth Roltgen ’25 of Ripon, trumpets; Adjunct Professor of Music Jessica Jensen, horn; Haileey Pick ’25 of Kingwood, Texas, trombone; Emily Byington ’25 of Waukesha, euphonium; and Evan Jensen ’24 of Janesville, tuba.

The director is Adjunct Professor of Music Jessica Jensen.

Guitar Ensemble will perform “All in a Garden Green,” a 16th-century song and “La Pastoreta” and “L’Hereu Riera,” Catalan folk songs. The performers are Daniel Gomez ’24 of Mayville; Alexander Herrera ’24 of Milwaukee; Peter Loewenstein ’24 of Oshkosh; and Isaac Tomaschefsky ’24 of Green Bay.

Guitar solos also will be performed by Tomaschefsky, Gomez, Herrera, Loewenstein, Stat Cornia ’26 of Madison, and Ethan Hansen ’23 of Franksville.
