Ben Grady publishes paper about plant research in digital journal
Ben Grady, associate professor of biology and director of environmental studies, is the co-author of a paper published by Phytoneuron, a venue for digital publication of reports on taxonomy, floristics and geographical distribution of vascular plants.
The article is titled “Revisiting taxonomic problems in capitate Eriogonum (Polygonaceae) from Idaho, Oregon, and Montana.”
“Botanists have long struggled to recognize and identify a handful of wild buckwheat (Eriogonum) species in Idaho, Oregon and Montana,” Grady says. “Our work analyzed morphological traits to differentiate four species from this region. Understanding species and their distribution is critical to inform conservation efforts for these rare plant species.”
