Museum studies interns visit EAA Aviation Museum to gain real-world insights
Three Ripon College museum studies students who are interning at the Ripon Historical Society during the fall semester received real-life insights with a private visit to the EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Nov. 14.
The students are Amanda Von Ruden ’25 of Dousman, Wisconsin, who is majoring in history with a minor in museum studies; Clara Carlson ’24 of Brookfield, Wisconsin, who is majoring in history with minors in museum studies and anthropology; and Lili Alderson ’24 of Ripon, Wisconsin, who is majoring in history and communication with minors in museum studies and educational studies.
Museum manager Chris Henry and collections curator Amelia Anderson addressed developing and creating exhibits and managing the museum and its collection.
The students were accompanied by Ripon History Society President David Sakrison, a former adjunct instructor of business management at Ripon College, and Caron Sisko, Ripon Historical Society vice president and adjunct scholar of art and museum studies at the College.
Sisko is the interns’ primary contact and supervisor at the historical society and is providing a wide range of experiences, working on exhibits, cataloging artifacts, researching and writing for the society’s weekly newspaper column, and other tasks. The internships were established through Professor of Art Travis Nygard.
