Spring musical, ‘The Spitfire Grill,’ to run April 10-13 at Ripon College

“The Spitfire Grill,” by James Valcz and Fred Alley, a musical love letter to the heart of rural Wisconsin, will be presented April 10-13 by the Department of Theatre at Ripon College. Performances of the spring musical will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Benstead Theatre, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. The show is described as a joyous celebration of human kindness. It is a tale of redemption, family and forgiveness. Set in the fictional town of Gilead, Wisconsin, a feisty parolee, Percy, is yearning for a fresh start. She unexpectedly discovers the healing power of her new community.

Members of the cast are: Summer Schlieckau ’25 of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, as Percy; Lucie Hodgkins ’25 of Winneconne, Wisconsin; as Shelby; Mikaela Lawrence ’24 of Anchorage, Alaska, as Hannah; Benjamin Marn ’23 of Brookfield, Wisconsin, as Joe; Levi Keen ’24 of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; as Caleb; Angelina Bahr ’26 of Ellison Bay, Wisconsin; as Effy; Pierce Reese-Grimm ’24 of Wautoma, Wisconsin; as The Visitor; and Corinna Torres ’26 of Menomonie, Wisconsin, and Kinsley Kahl ’26 of Monona, Wisconsin, as members of the ensemble.

Associate Professor of Theatre Lillian Brown is the director and movement coach; Professor of Theatre John G. Dalziel ’02 is the technical director and the scenic, sound and lighting designer; Andrea Williams ’04 of Commerce, Texas, is the costume and makeup designer; and Liliana Haddox ’26 of Chugiak, Alaska, is the hair designer and a member of the costume construction crew.

Other members of the technical staff include Maricarmen Dorantes ’25 of Milwaukee, is the stage manager and a member of the costume construction crew; Sophia Pieters ’27 of Middleton, Wisconsin, is the assistant stage manager; Derek Veltstra ’24 of Sherrill, Iowa, is the light and sound board operator; Linda Powell of Ripon, Wisconsin, is the costume shop manager; and Jasmine Greuel ’27 of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Hunter Hille ’25 of Warren, Illinois, Kinsley Kahl ’26 of Monona, Wisconsin, and Logan Neundorf ’26 of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, are members of the scenery, construction and lighting crew.
