Ripon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds will perform April 28
The Ripon College Chamber Winds and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present a spring concert, “Retrospect and Modern Takes,” Sunday, April 28. The concert will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. Admission is free and open to the public. Assistant Professor of Music Tobin Shucha is the conductor.
This will be the inaugural performance for the Chamber Winds. Selections will include “Suite for Small Band No. 2,” by Hiroki Takahashi; “Dances from Terpsichore,” by Michael Praetorious, arranged by Tohru Minakuchi; and “My Hometown,” by Hayato Hirose.
Ensemble members include: Benjamin Cabala ’24 of Madison, Wisconsin, flute; Ty Rondestvedt ’25 of Altoona, Wisconsin, clarinet; Alec Marcinkevic ’26 of East Troy, Wisconsin, alto saxophone; Matthew Buchholz ’27 of Jefferson, Wisconsin, trombone; Emily Byington ’25 of Waukesha, Wisconsin, euphonium; Brittny Brown ’21 of Ripon, Wisconsin, tuba; and Jahquan Hamilton ’27 of Chicago, Illinois, percussion.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform “Courtly Airs and Dances,” by Ron Nelson; “Elegy for Albinoni,” by Shelley Hanson; “Musings on a Bach Sarabande,” by Karlin G. Love; “… And Then the Universe Exploded,” by Olivia Kieffer.
Violin Sonata by Tomaso Albinoni, also will feature adjunct instructors of music Ann Stephan, violin, and Deb MacKenzie, piano; and “Sarabande and Double from Violin Partita No. 2 in D Minor,” BWV 1004, by Johann Sebastian Bach also will feature Stephan on violin.
