Al Sturgeon

Vice President and Dean of Students

Al Sturgeon is the vice president and dean of students at Ripon College after having served as its inaugural associate vice president for student success. He also holds the assistant professor of political science title with areas of specialization in law and conflict resolution. Before working at Ripon College, Sturgeon was the associate dean for student life and spiritual development at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law in Malibu, California. He also worked in vice president roles at Blackburn College in Illinois and Lipscomb University in Nashville, as well as having taught a variety of law and conflict resolution courses at the undergraduate, graduate and law school levels at universities in California and Tennessee. He received a juris doctor degree with a certificate in dispute resolution from the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law and a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He teaches POL 400: Sports Law, which is cross-listed with Exercise Science and Business Management.
