Filing the FAFSA – Use your FSA ID to file the FAFSA here.
NOTE: For the 2025-26 academic year, there will be a delay in the opening of the FAFSA until December. Use our Federal School Code: 003884 to choose Ripon College.
Educational Loans
Students are encouraged to utilize the unsubsidized federal direct loan eligibility first after applying through the FAFSA as it often has a lower interest rate as well as a grace period. Students who apply are eligible for up to $20,500 per year (based on their prior undergraduate borrowing). Students should complete the FAFSA first. If an additional loan is needed, you should apply for the Graduate PLUS loan here. First-time borrowers will be required to complete Entrance Counseling for Direct PLUS loans.

Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are available to students enrolled in a graduate program offered on campus to provide financial assistance and professional growth to students. They are designed to:
- Provide graduate students an opportunity to work closely with faculty or college professionals in their academic field or other departments on campus
- Enhance and build upon what graduate students learn in the classroom
Financial need is not a consideration in the hiring process, and selection is based upon overall undergraduate scholastic achievement and potential for future professional growth.
A full graduate assistantship requires students to work 20 hours per week while enrolled in a minimum of nine credits; students may work multiple GA contracts in different areas to reach the desired hours per week. This may include areas outside of the academic or athletic department. Assistantship types and assistantship availability vary by department. Graduate assistantships may be awarded tuition remission and/or a stipend, and not all departments receive the same funding.
Types Of Assistantships
Assist faculty with research projects, in-class discussions, and laboratory sections. Duties may include meeting with students; administering tests or exams; leading a laboratory section or discussion sessions; and representing the graduate program at meetings or informational sessions.
Assist with coaching, recruitment of student-athletes, and other duties as assigned by the head coach or director of athletics.
Students interested in participating in a graduate assistantship must:
- Be admitted into the graduate degree program, with all graduate assistant application materials submitted to the Graduate Program Director
- Students must submit a Graduate Assistantship Application, three letters of recommendation, a current resume and a letter of interest to the Graduate Program Director: Dr. Brittany Followay at [email protected].
- Not be admitted under provisional acceptance
- Have earned a minimum undergraduate 3.0 cumulative grade point average as an undergraduate student
