What is Athletic Branding?
At Ripon College, Red Hawk Athletics is built on pride, grit, and togetherness. Rooted in the school’s Crimson heritage and carried forward through Rally T. Red Hawk, our program’s spirit reflects a community that shows up for each other — on the field, in the stands, and across campus. We compete with scrappy determination, the kind that comes from small-college teams who out-work bigger programs, while staying true to the tight-knit, everyone-knows-your-name feel that defines Ripon. This is Red Hawks pride: proud of where we come from, scrappy in how we compete, and driven by a community that rallies together every time.

Rally
Rally, our official school’s mascot, plays a key role in bringing our community together at events and celebrations.
While we encourage the use of Rally to enhance fan experiences, we ask to not use the mascot’s illustration for branding or design purposes. Rally is intended to be a special and distinctive symbol of our school’s official events.
Primary Typeface: Myriad Variable Concept Black Condensed
Myriad Variable Concept Black Condensed is the primary typeface used for all headlines. Headlines should use Myriad Variable Concept Black Condensed, all caps, no tracking and a tight leading.
Secondary Typeface: Montserrat
Montserrat is the secondary typeface used for all body copy. For body copy, make sure it is Montserrat regular weight with no tracking and a looser leading.

Graphic Elements For Athletic Design
Athletics has a variety of graphic elements that can be used large or small to add visual interest to a design. Please follow the usage guidelines.
Lines
The angle line pattern is intended to be used as a background decorative element. The pattern can be easily replicated in Adobe programs using the pen or line tool. This patterns can be in red, gray, black or white.
Texture
Paper texture adds visual interest to the overall design. It’s intended to be used as background.

The official Red Hawks Head can be used as a bold design element or subtle background element.
Repeating Text
You can use repeating text as a subtle background element. To create this effect, simply use the Bank Gothic font to create a word pattern. You can also use the outlined version by setting the text to outline instead of a solid fill.
Photography for Athletic Collateral
Red Hawks Athletics have a variety of photo styles: action shots; staged media individual and team shots; and images of fans and facilities. Consider the story being told and what type of image fits with the appropriate marketing tactic.
Cropping Recommendations
When creating collateral promoting Red Hawks Athletics, consider cropping the imagery tight to one individual. This unique cropping creates a more intense and personal feeling, while also aligning with the institutional photography guidelines.
