Multimedia Milwaukee artist, Nina Bednarski, shows work at Ripon College

“Otherlands,” an exhibit of work by Milwaukee-based artist Nina Bednarski, will be on view Jan. 27 through March10 at Ripon College.

The exhibit will be on view in C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. An artist talk will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 in Demmer Recital Hall. A reception will follow in Caestecker Gallery.

Bednarski is a multimedia artist who uses landscape as a springboard to pay homage to nature’s perfection while blurring the line between urban and bucolic. Her eyes rest on folk art, street art, historic buildings, Japanese woodcuts, Fauvists, Surrealists, art deco, wallpaper design, subways, birds, water, migrations, gardens and truth.

“My work becomes a meditation that I take from the field to the studio,” she said, “spirit-driven responses from other realms filtered through reality.”

Bednarski hold a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has had solo exhibitions and been featured in curated exhibitions in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin; New York, New York; Brooklyn, New York

She had a residency during the summer of 2015 at Wormfarm Institute in Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and was a visiting artist during the fall of 2015 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
