Ripon College noting Sexual Assault Awareness Week
Students for Social Justice are hosting Sexual Assault Awareness Week this week.
On Tuesday, the presentation The Power to Stop This will begin at 6 p.m. in Johnson Main Lounge. A representative from ASTOP will discuss what can be done if you are sexually victimized and how to intervene in a dangerous situation. ASTOP is a sexual assault service provider offering treatment, outreach, prevention and advocacy, emphasizing hope and connection to self and others in Fond du Lac, Green Lake and Waushara counties.
On Thursday, the student panel How It Happens to Us will begin at 4:15 p.m. in Kreske Little Theatre, East Hall. The panel will focus on how the problem of sexual assault affects different communities specifically. Representatives from campus groups representing different races, genders, ability statuses, and sexual orientations speak about how sexual assault uniquely affects their group.
Participants will be: Ermias Woldu ’19 of Addis Ababa, representing Black Student Union; Natsumi Jimenez ’20 of Chicago, Illinois, representing La Unida; Joe Galbreath ’18 of Racine, Wisconsin, representing Queer Straight Alliance; Maddy Vega ’18 of Kenosha, Wisconsin, representing DREAM; and Abby Korb ’20 of Burlington, Wisconsin, representing RC Feminists.
