Fire-fighting fun, barbecue dinner offered in family day event on Sunday

A fun family day to support fire safety education will be held Sunday, April 23, in the Village Green, downtown Ripon.

Phi Delta Theta will sponsor Fire Safety Day with a chicken barbecue, a hilarious firefighter obstacle course and children’s activities. J’s BBQ will be open for this event only on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., including a half-chicken dinner with sauce, two sides and a pickle. Tickets must be purchased in advance by Friday.

Enjoy your meal while you watch the members of Phi Delta Theta run laps downtown wearing full turnout fire-fighting gear and teams competing in a firefighter obstacle course. Ripon firefighters will give children tours of fire trucks and engage them in fire safety-themed activities.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for college students and children. You may purchase tickets until Friday from members of Phi Delta Theta in the Commons, by contacting Phi Delta Theta faculty advisor Jody Roy (748-8712 or [email protected]), or at the courtesy counter at Webster’s grocery store.

If you cannot attend, you may still support the cause by making a donation here. Visit the Phi Delta Theta Facebook page for more information.

All proceeds from meal purchases and direct donations will support fire safety education efforts of the Ripon Area Fire Department.
