Around the World in 80 Days

Tickets are on sale now for the fun filled, family show, Around the World in 80 Days. The public is invited to join the Ripon Summer Players for the original amazing race as Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant Passepartout attempt to travel across the globe by ship, train and even elephant. This new version of Jules Verne’s comic adventure has been produced throughout the world and now it has found its way to Ripon. Around the World in 80 Days features a cast of 17 actors playing 30 roles. Appearing in the play are John Ingemann, Andrea Young, Maic D’Agostino, Jodi Spanbauer, Anders Goodwin, Alex Reid, Maggie Wolf, Robin Woods, Mark Geldmeyer, Bryan Gerretsen, Jack Christ, Brian Reilly, Jim Tronoff, Bob Amsden, Tina Hughes, Vida VandeSlunt, and Helga Rikkers.

Director Kenneth Hill, Professor of Theatre at Ripon College, says, “The style of the performance is a fun and fresh form of theatre called story theatre. Actors will play a number of different characters, switching accents and hats as we whisk you across the globe. You will see the inner workings of the theatre as the sound and lights will be part of the staging. The Ripon Summer Players has never attempted something this big and bold before, but we know our loyal audience is ready for a wild ride!”

Around the World in 80 Days will open the Ripon Summer Players 17th season and run May 30- June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and June 2 at 2 p.m. in the Benstead Theatre, Rodman Center for the Arts. Tickets for the play are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and students, and are available at Ripon Drug and at the door. The Ripon Summer Players are sponsored by Ripon Noon Kiwanis and the Ripon College Theatre Department.
