Young Published in Journal of Lie Theory

Andrea YoungAssistant Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science Andrea Young recently had two articles published. “Ricci Yang-Mills Solitons on Nilpotent Lie Groups,” co-authored with Mike Jablonski, was published in the 2013 edition of the Journal of Lie Theory. According to Young, the article dealt with “special metrics (Ricci Yang-Mills solitons) on certain mathematical objects (nilpotent Lie groups). We use techniques from Geometric Invariant Theory to give a geometric characterization of these metrics and show that they are canonical in some sense.”

Young published “Improvisation in the Mathematics Classroom,” in Problems, Resources, and Issues in Mathematics Undergraduate Studies. The article addresses the use of improv games and techniques in the classroom and is available online here.

Young also received a grant for $2500 from the Academy of Inquiry-based learning to develop a math modeling course over the summer, and which we she is teaching this Fall.
